    McDaniel College appoints Adam Hertz as athletics director

    Adam Hertz, who has served as McDaniel College’s Interim Director of Athletics since Mar. 10, has been appointed as Director of Athletics, current McDaniel Provost and incoming 10th President Julia Jasken has announced. Hertz came to McDaniel after nearly two decades at fellow Centennial Conference member Swarthmore. He most recently managed operations and logistics for 122 Consulting Group in Philadelphia, a national consulting group based in Philadelphia that specializes in Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (JDEI) work.

    McDaniel in the News: What an Art History professor learned from the football team

    As faculty mentor to the Green Terror football team, Art History professor Gretchen McKay dons the green and gold on game days to cheer the team on from the sidelines — but that’s only a small part of the roles mentor and mentees play in each other’s lives.

    Faculty athletic mentors: Supporting student athletes on and off the field

    For most of the week, you’ll find McDaniel’s faculty athletic mentors in labs or studios or discussing Byzantine art with a group Art History students. But come Game Day, these professors exchange lab coats and laptops for Green Terror fan gear before heading off to cheer on their favorite team. But the fast growing faculty mentor program goes far beyond cheering from the sidelines. The program matches faculty members with athletic teams of their choice. If the match gels, the mentor helps team members with academic issues and fosters better understanding among faculty of the demands student-athletes face all the while identifying specific and sometimes unique ways they can support the team and its members.
