McDaniel College has named Bryan Gately '83 to its Board of Trustees. Gately, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication, is currently executive director and banker with J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Baltimore.
The $1.4 million renovation of Harvey Stone Park and Pavilion, supported by a grant from the State of Maryland and private donations, including a leadership gift from McDaniel Trustee Carroll L. "Splinter" Yingling '68 and his wife, Susan Morales Yingling '70, M.S. '00, has transformed the facility into an outdoor living-learning laboratory and will host student gatherings and campus events.
McDaniel College has been awarded a four-year grant totaling $580,100 from the Sherman Fairchild Foundation to purchase new state-of-the-art scientific equipment for research and teaching in McDaniel’s Biology, Chemistry, and Health Sciences departments.
McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2026 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies to be held Saturday, May 23. Undergraduate Commencement speaker is McDaniel College Trustee Robert Pick '92, P’25, executive vice president and chief information officer for Tokio Marine North America. Ochieng’ K’Olewe, the L. McDaniel College President Julia Jasken has announced the creation of the college’s first comprehensive school, a new School of Business and Technology, which is targeted to open as early as fall 2027. McDaniel is launching a national search for the inaugural dean of the School of Business and Technology, along with a new Endowed Professor of Computer Science and Technology Innovation.
A group of McDaniel College students, along with McDaniel President Julia Jasken, Associate Vice President for Administration and Government Relations Jenni Glennon, Social Work Professor Jim Kunz, and Political Science Lecturer Patrick Murray, met with lawmakers and participated in a luncheon during "Independent Higher Education Day" in Annapolis, Maryland, on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Maryland’s U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks have announced that McDaniel has been awarded $830,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS). The funds will be used to purchase technology and equipment for McDaniel’s state-of-the-art Nursing facility at LifeBridge Health’s Carroll Hospital, which is slated for completion for fall 2026.
McDaniel College has added new guaranteed Legacy Scholarships for all children of first responders, health professionals, and government employees, beginning with students applying to McDaniel for fall 2026. This is in addition to our existing Educator Legacy Scholarship and Military Legacy Scholarship. McDaniel’s Legacy Scholarships are valued at up to $132,000 over four years and there is no limit to the number of Legacy Scholarships awarded by McDaniel.
Homecoming 2025 included cheering for the Green Terror while tailgating during Saturday's home football game. The official dedication and ribbon-cutting of the Dr. Richard A. Clower '50 Track, as well as the presentation of the Homecoming Court, awarding the James Brant Memorial Cup, and naming the winners of the Letters on the Hill contest, took place prior to kickoff.
