McDaniel College Accounting students had the opportunity to put their interviewing skills into practice and connect with potential employers during the college’s annual Interview Day on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Hosted by McDaniel’s Economics and Business Administration Department, the event brought regional and national accounting firms to campus for a fast-paced “speed interview” experience. A total of 30 sophomores, juniors, and seniors participated in 20-minute interviews with nine firms from the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area over the course of three hours — 93 interviews total.
In addition to potentially connecting students with internships and full-time employment, Interview Day gives students valuable experience navigating the interview process and interacting with professionals in their field.
Many of the participating firms were represented by McDaniel alumni whose own careers began after taking part in Interview Day as students.
“The employers that we bring to campus are so supportive of our program and know that when they hire a McDaniel Accounting student, they are getting a great employee,” said Kerry Duvall, department chair of Economics and Business Administration, who organized the event.
The firms participating in this year’s Interview Day were Bounds Accounting & Tax Services, LLC; CBIZ represented by McDaniel alumni Mike Bennett ’23, Ryan Kryder ’25, Anders Madsen ’25 and Bradley Mills ’26; CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen); Gross Mendelsohn represented by McDaniel alumni Faviola Mejia ’25 and Ethan Sandoval ’26; KatzAbosch; RMA Associates, LLC; Sorren represented by McDaniel alumni Ariana Stormont ’24 and Kelly Wolverton ’17; Thompson Greenspon represented by McDaniel alum Billy Thomas ’06; and Withum represented by McDaniel alumni Claire Olson '24 and Aaron Slaughter ’10.
“The employers that we bring to campus are so supportive of our program and know that when they hire a McDaniel Accounting student, they are getting a great employee,” Duvall said.
