Alum and current McDaniel parent Robert Pick elected to McDaniel College Board of Trustees

Robert Pick, executive vice president and chief information officer for Philadelphia-based Tokio Marine North America Services, has been elected to the McDaniel College Board of Trustees. Pick is a 1992 alum, who majored in History and Political Science, and his daughter, Reagan, is currently a rising senior with a student-designed major in French Studies.

McDaniel College has named Robert Pick to the college's Board of Trustees.

Pick, who was a History and Political Science major, graduated from the college, summa cum laude, in 1992 and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society along with the Phi Alpha Theta History and Pi Gamma Mu Social Sciences honor societies. He then went on to earn a master’s degree from Cornell University, while also completing an additional two years of doctoral coursework and reading.

He joined Philadelphia-based Tokio Marine North America Services (TMNAS) in 2014 after 16 years in major media and telecommunications, including working in audit and consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

As the executive vice president and chief information officer, he leads the team providing full-suite digital and technology services for both TMNAS, as well as Tokio Marine America, Philadelphia Insurance Companies, and First Insurance Company of Hawaii. Pick is also the Group Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer for Tokio Marine Holdings in Japan, which consists of more than 200 companies in 46 countries and over 50,000 employees. He is also the executive sponsor for the TMNAS Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Council.

Currently, he is chair of the board of trustees of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute and is on the CIO (chief information officer) Council for Blumberg Capital. He served as a longtime member of the advisory board for the Johns Hopkins University Press and was a client advisory board member for NTT Data Services. He is also a member of the strategic advisory board for Guidewire (NYSE: GWRE) and is a member of the customer advisory board for Duck Creek Technologies.

Pick is also a regular conference and podcast speaker on topics ranging from Insurtech and insurance trends, legacy modernization, and generative AI (artificial intelligence). His daughter, Reagan, is a rising senior at McDaniel with a student-designed major in French Studies.
