    First-year and transfer students awarded Educator's and Military Legacy Scholarships

    McDaniel College has awarded more than 100 first-year and transfer students with Educator's and Military Legacy Scholarships valued at up to $132,000, or $33,000 annually over four years. Any student who qualifies for McDaniel's Educator’s Legacy Scholarship or Military Legacy Scholarship is automatically awarded the scholarship.

    Four Elementary Education majors presented on math teaching strategies at the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference held Oct. 18. Alumni of McDaniel’s Education programs were also represented among the conference presentations and award winners.

    McDaniel College and LifeBridge Health announce landmark partnership

    New partnership between LifeBridge Health and McDaniel addresses the need for qualified nurses by having McDaniel's Nursing program housed at Carroll Hospital. McDaniel Nursing students will have access to clinical placements at LifeBridge Health locations and be eligible for CARE BRAVELY scholarships. McDaniel also established the LifeBridge Legacy Scholarship for the children of LifeBridge Health employees. Additionally, McDaniel received a $2.5 million grant from the Kahlert Foundation.

    Assistant Professor Laura Bitto teaches the ‘why’ in math education

    Math class often gets a bad rap, as Assistant Professor of Education Laura Albaugh Bitto ’04 is well aware. Bitto, a math teacher educator, is working to change this, and recently gained support in her mission with a yearlong fellowship from the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.

    McDaniel College Theatre kicks off 2024-25 academic year with “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde”

    McDaniel student actors perform in a depiction of Moisés Kaufman’s thrilling drama based on the true events surrounding the downfall of the renowned playwright and author Oscar Wilde. Performances are Thursday, Oct. 3-Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre in WMC Alumni Hall. Note: the show contains adult material and is intended for mature audiences.

    McDaniel hosts annual fall lectures featuring prominent professors

    The annual Phi Beta Kappa lecture presents "Slavery in Two Worlds: East Africans in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean” by University of Virginia professor Kristina Richardson on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Holloway Lecture features bestselling author and humorist Gina Barreca from the University of Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 3. Both events take place at 7:30 p.m. in McDaniel Hall's Coley Rice Lounge and are free and open to the public.
