    Cinema majors showcase original films during Cinema Showcase

    Eight Cinema majors premiere their original fiction and documentary films during the McDaniel Cinema Showcase on Thursday, May 2, starting at 7 p.m. in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. Each film was written, directed, produced, and edited by Cinema majors as their final capstone project.

    Art department displays first of two capstone exhibitions

    "I Am Who? This is Me.” is the first of two Art capstone exhibitions at McDaniel. The exhibition runs Tuesday, April 2-Friday, April 19, in McDaniel’s Esther Prangley Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall. An opening reception takes place Friday, April 5, 5:30-7:30 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6 p.m.

    Second Senior Capstone Art exhibition highlights works by graduating seniors

    "Idveritas: Discovery of the Self" features a range of media, from traditional two- and three-dimensional approaches, to digital and new media, from graduating seniors at McDaniel. The exhibition runs Tuesday, April 25-Friday, May 12 in Esther Prangley Rice Gallery, Peterson Hall. An opening reception takes place Thursday, April 27, 5:30-7:30 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6 p.m.

    “Diverging Artists” features a range of media from photography, digital design, and acyclic paint, to the collection of multimedia pieces, from graduating Art majors at McDaniel.     Eight senior Cinema majors premiered more than their original films during the McDaniel Cinema Showcase on May 6. Their capstone creations showcased a piece of themselves on the big screen in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. Each film was written, directed, produced, and edited by a Cinema major as a portfolio of their work.

    2018 alumnus co-writes scripts for 13-episode season on Spotify’s Dissect podcast

    Whether or not you are a fan of “Because The Internet” by Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover, tune in to Spotify’s podcast Dissect, with new episodes every Tuesday for the next 11 plus weeks, for Camden Ostrander’s incisive exploration of Glover’s second studio album, film, and screenplay. The 2018 alumnus and Dorsey Scholar co-wrote the season’s 13 episodes with Dissect’s creator and host Cole Cuchna.

    Graduating seniors take viewers on journey through Cinema capstones

    Graduating Cinema students produce original works as the culmination of their studies at McDaniel. For the Spring 2020 semester, the students had the opportunity to either write an original screenplay or produce a 20-minute film.

    Now on their way to doctorate programs, medical school, high school classrooms and careers that span wildlife preservation, agriculture production and forensics, McDaniel’s 2020 Biology graduates all learned valuable skills and life lessons while immersing in the capstone research that is the culmination of their studies in their major.
