McDaniel College’s spring 2026 events calendar is chock-full of art exhibitions, performances, lectures, and other events on the Hill.
McDaniel College’s spring 2026 campus events calendar is chock-full of art exhibitions, performances, lectures, and other events on the Hill. All of the events are open to the public and most are free.
Some highlights include:
- Art exhibitions, including the "Honors Art Exhibition," "Kathryn E. Wentz Juried Undergraduate Exhibition," and senior capstone exhibitions featuring work by McDaniel students, along with "Beyond the Objects: The Grammar of Things" curated by Art Professor Steven Pearson, the Joan Develin Coley Endowed Chair in Creative Expression and the Arts, and senior Art major Danielle Silva.
- Annual end-of-semester Music concerts with student performers, such as the College Choir Concert, Student African Drum Ensembles, Jazz Night, and College Band Concert.
- Theatre performances, including "9 to 5: The Musical," based on the 1980 20th Century Fox film featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, and the One-Act Play Festival with McDaniel students directing and performing a selection of 10-minute, one-act plays.
- Lectures and literary events — “Doing History: An Archivist’s Approach to Uncovering the Past” as part of Carroll County’s commemoration of the 250th birthday of the United States; Ira G. Zepp, Jr. Memorial Lecture featuring Ruha Benjamin, a nationally renowned scholar, sociologist, and award-winning author; Bothe Poetry Reading with poet and essayist Bernard Jankowski '80; Wenner-Wingate Memorial Lecture with political sportswriter Dave Zirin; and Rembert Lecture in Enterprise Economics hosted by the Economics and Business Administration department with speaker Thomas DiLorenzo, president of the Mises Institute and former Economics professor at Loyola University Maryland. Registration is required for panel discussions hosted by the McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network on "Winter Wisdom: Women Navigating Entrepreneurship" and "Spring into Health: Mind, Body, Community," as well as a virtual hour-long webinar on “Endometriosis: The Social and Medical Crisis Hiding in Plain Sight” with McDaniel Assistant Professor of Sociology Virginia Berndt and Dr. Natalya Danilyants, board-certified gynecologic surgeon and co-founder of The Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC).
- College-wide and departmental events, including Taste of Islam global dinner, Shakespeare in the Square hosted by the English department and Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Earth Day Fair, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge, Academic Symposium with McDaniel faculty, staff, and students showcasing their scholarship and academic experience, and McDaniel Cinema Showcase of student-produced fiction and documentary films, as well as both the Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies and Commencement-related events.
- Both the 1867 Challenge and Green & Gold Golf Classic to support current and future McDaniel students.
- Alumni Weekend and the Alumni Association Awards Celebration, bringing back alumni to the Hill.
- Common Ground on the Hill concerts and programs, including the annual Traditions Week.
- Information sessions about the Carroll County Scholars program for current 8th and 10th grade students who live in Carroll County and their families.
- Plus, Admissions events for prospective students to discover McDaniel, including Graduate and Professional Studies Virtual Coordinator Connections and Spring Open House for Juniors.
