Science Molecule DNA Model Structure

Molecular Biology

If you’re even reading this, chances are you like to get down to the details. The fine details. The micro details. Maybe even all the way down to the very smallest structures that make up, well, everything in the history of the living universe. Let’s get molecular, shall we?

Degree Types
Complementary Programs
Distinctive Requirements
5 Lab Courses

A specialization within the biology major, Molecular Biology guides you through a program of study that will get you acquainted with how things work at the cellular and sub-cellular levels. This is the playground where so much of what makes life life actually happens, including genetics and biochemistry.

Student Spotlight Garrett Gregoire 2019, Molecular Biology

Garrett Gregoire matter-of-factly points out that his student-faculty research project won’t cure cancer. Perhaps not, but his work does make a real contribution. And it helped make him a competitive applicant for graduate school. Garrett is currently attending the Biomedical Sciences graduate program at the University of Virginia, pursuing his Ph.D.
