McDaniel College celebrates its 155th Commencement for the Class of 2025. The college's Graduate Commencement Ceremony is Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. and the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, May 23, at 1 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at mcdaniel.edu/commencement.
Donor-funded renovation to upgrade the Economics and Business Administration department suite, including faculty and staff offices, is set to take place over summer 2025.
Seven History seniors were invited to present at the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference held April 12. Senior History major Emily Liszewski won second prize in the world history division and McDaniel's Omega Upsilon chapter was awarded special recognition as the “Most Enthusiastic Chapter” at the conference.
McDaniel’s Class of 2025 is skillful, engaged, and experienced with rigorous research, internships, and campus organizations. At every turn, they connected with peers, professors, and community to make a difference.
Cinema majors premiere their original student-produced narrative and documentary films as the culminating project for their senior capstone during the annual McDaniel Cinema Showcase on Wednesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 8. Free and open to the public, screenings begin at 6:30 p.m. in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. There will be a brief Q&A with the filmmaker after each film.
McDaniel students were inducted this spring into academic honor societies, including Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology), Beta Beta Beta (Biology), Kappa Mu Epsilon (Math), Lambda Pi Eta (Communication), Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics), Phi Alpha Theta (History), Psi Chi (Psychology), and Sigma Tau Delta (English), as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Update: Sana Askari, junior Political Science, Business Administration, and Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies major who presented Esheel, earned the $5,000 top prize as the first-place winner at McDaniel's 2025 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge.
Advanced Theatre students at McDaniel perform in the premiere of an original devised theatre piece directed by Gené Fouché, assistant professor and department chair of Theatre Arts. Titled “Theory of RelativiTV,” performances are Thursday, May 1-Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre in WMC Alumni Hall.
Students were inducted April 6 into the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society at McDaniel College. Omicron Delta Kappa was installed at the college in 1963.
McDaniel's Academic Symposium on Monday, May 5, highlights the original research, scholarship, and creative achievements of McDaniel students, faculty, and staff. Plus, two special events take place including a Community Networking Breakfast & Presentation of the Phi Beta Kappa Lifelong Learner Award and a Keynote Lunch with McDaniel College Budapest Professor Gábor Molnár (advance registration is required for both the breakfast and lunch events).
