    Six ROTC cadets commissioned as Army officers

    Six McDaniel graduating seniors, who served as members of the Green Terror Battalion, received commissions as Army officers on May 20. The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Maj. Gen. Antonio V. Munera, commanding general of the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

    McDaniel celebrates 152nd Commencement on Saturday, May 21

    McDaniel College celebrates its 152nd Commencement for the Class of 2022 on Saturday, May 21. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center with masks required for all attendees as a health and safety precaution. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at www.mcdaniel.edu/commencement.

    Five professors have been named Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., Engaged Faculty Fellows in recognition of their exceptional commitment to their students. The Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., Engaged Faculty Fellows Award was established with a gift from Charles A. Boehlke, Jr., a 1978 alumnus of the college and current member of the McDaniel Board of Trustees.

    The Daily Record has named McDaniel College President Julia Jasken to its 2022 listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women, which recognizes outstanding achievements by women demonstrated through professional accomplishments, community leadership, and mentoring.

    Undergraduate and Graduate speakers announced for 2022 Commencement ceremonies

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2022 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 21. Undergraduate Commencement speaker is author and social entrepreneur Michelle Poler, founder of the social movement Hello Fears and creator of the 100 Days Without Fear project, while Dan Rodricks, longtime columnist for The Baltimore Sun, will provide remarks during the graduate ceremony.

    McDaniel College announces recent staff promotions and additions

    Jill Centofanti has been promoted to dean of admissions, while Susan Fieldhouse, Carolyn Salazar and Andrew Van Der Stuyf have recently joined the college. Fieldhouse is the new registrar, Salazar is associate vice president for institutional advancement, and Van Der Stuyf is associate vice president for facilities management.

    McDaniel College announces Fall 2021 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its Fall 2021 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Gospel Choir director Shelley Ensor awarded Maryland State Arts Council award

    McDaniel College Gospel Choir director Shelley Ensor was awarded the Heritage Award from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). The annual MSAC Heritage Awards recognize long-term achievement in the traditional arts and include grant funding for awardees to continue their efforts at preserving the heritage and traditions of their art.

    McDaniel College students participate in Model European Union Simulation

    For the 20th year, McDaniel College students participated in the Model European Union Simulation. A delegation of 12 students represented both Ireland and the Netherlands and were accompanied to the conference in Washington, D.C., by Christianna N. Leahy, chair of the Political Science and International Studies department at McDaniel.
