    McDaniel College has named new Alumni Council leaders. The Alumni Council is the leadership body of McDaniel’s Alumni Association and its members serve as ambassadors for the college. Prospective members of the Alumni Council are either nominated or can apply online.

    Board Chair Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Otto J. Guenther ’63 inducted into Army ROTC Hall of Fame

    Retired Lt. Gen. Otto J. Guenther, chair of the McDaniel College Board of Trustees, has been honored for his military achievements, both past and present. Guenther, a 1963 alumnus who majored in Economics and was a member of the Green Terror Battalion Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program, has been inducted into the national U.S. Army ROTC Hall of Fame, which recognizes ROTC graduates who have distinguished themselves in military or civilian pursuits. He has also been named a 2021 Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education by G.I. Jobs magazine, which publishes the Military Friendly® Schools list.

    From Wall Street to a wildlife refuge, McDaniel College students are climbing to new heights through immersive summer experiences. Students are applying what they are learning in the classroom with real-world summer internships and job experiences.

    Students make a difference through McDaniel’s Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program

    McDaniel College students strive to make a difference in the world through the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program. Students are learning how to solve real-world problems, whether it’s restoring local wetlands that are under threat worldwide or joining in research efforts to discover drugs to treat COVID-19 following the global pandemic. The Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research experience is an eight-week program for undergraduate students at McDaniel to pursue research, which is supported by donors.

    Each summer, graduate students in McDaniel’s Reading Specialist: Literacy Leadership program are involved with the McDaniel College Reading Clinic, a comprehensive four-week experience providing reading and writing assistance to elementary school-aged students enrolled in Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS).
