Student Ensembles

Music organizations on campus offer excellent performance opportunities. Faculty directors are accomplished performer/scholars in the Baltimore-Washington area.

College Choir: Members include students, faculty, and community musicians. Diverse programs range from medieval to modern and frequently include premiere works of contemporary original compositions. The choir recently performed at the National Cathedral.

College Concert Band: Student and local brass, woodwind, and percussion instrumentalists perform programs that stretch and test the abilities of each musician.

College Jazz Ensemble: Student instrumentalists gain facility in interpreting current jazz styles such as swing, Latin, fusion, and funk in the ensemble and Jazz Lab. The small group jazz workshops deal with improvisation and standard repertoire.

Gospel Choir: Composed of more than the thirty students, this choir performs traditional spirituals and contemporary gospel and premiere pieces.

Madrigal Singers: A select group of voices present both on- and off-campus performances, recently including the National Cathedral, Kennedy Center, the Hartt School of Music, and public relations concerts for the Discovery Channel.

Singing on Stage: Students present a diverse selection of material ranging from Puccini to Sondheim.

Small Ensemble Lab: Students playing any instrument or voice collaborate musically in small ensembles.

Learning Lab: Global Drums: Students explore a wide range of percussion instruments and performance styles. Watch them in action.

Westminster Symphony Orchestra: A collaborative effort of the McDaniel College and Carroll Community College Music Departments.
